Big or bold?

Over the last 8 + years, I’ve been rebuilding NEWMAN Guitars. I will tirelessly tell our story to guitar enthusiasts around the world. I’ve felt so much joy building and designing guitars with some of the best luthiers and artists on the planet. These influences are the essence of our boldness in design. BOLD motivates the creative process. BOLD makes building something magical possible. BOLD builds a tool and makes new magic possible. It’s a totally recycled revolution from wood to realtime expression.

However, when a brand gets bigger, bigger can be the enemy of bold. Scaling up is good, but loss of control to get there isn’t. The quandary “go big or go home” is something that every company should address. From my point of view, taking your ball and going home is liberating and may even be necessary. Being the mother bear to your vision is your the best asset. Nobody has to give up creative freedom in the pursuit of bigger. BOLD spawns unbridled commitment and gives you uniqueness in a crowded space. Choosing BOLD over BIG is necessary if you crave an endless exploration of your creative energy.

NEWMAN will always be bold in design and committed to expanding the guitar family. Yes, we’re getting bigger and that is always a goal. But, so much complacent mass produced guitars enter the market which makes pioneering even more critical. We want to make our guitars more accessible but not at the cost of our ability to be BOLD in our vision. Control is the only way to hold your bold. Thanks for reading our blog and getting to know us better. Jeff Smith
